Monday 13 July 2015

only one post today; try to make a good recording and think carefully
before you write your short paragraphs

Step 1 open this

http://www.dialectsarchive.com/comma-gets-a-cure

and read along while you listen to this

http://www.dialectsarchive.com/thailand-5

Step 2  Make a voice recording of 'comma gets a cure'.  If you have
more than one member:

blog member 1 : record para 1 and 2

blog member 2 : record para 3 and 4

Step 3 compare the two and write a few sentences about the similarities and differences between you and 'Thai 5'

address these issues in your paragraph:

how clear?

the speed

pauses after commas, periods

give examples of the following

pronounces 's' or drops

adds -ah- after s + consonant; ex. sahmoke for smoke

switches l + r;

add 'n' to word endings; ex litten for little

Step 4 read  'other influences on speech' for Thai5 and then

write a few sentences to describe what you have done over the years to make your spoken English the way it is

Post to your blog

1)  the recording from step 2

2)  the short paragraph from step 3

3)  the short paragraph from step 4
